Albert Richard "Dick" Walck

Albert Richard (“Dick”) Walck passed away on 28 November 2021 at the age of 92. Richard was born in Greencastle, PA on 12 January 1929. He served in the Air Force from 1952-1956 and was stationed in New Mexico and Texas. After service, he worked at Fairchild Aircraft until his retirement in 1994.

Richard enjoyed hunting and camping. He was involved in scouting for over 50 years, working with packs and troops in State Line and Greencastle, PA and earning many awards, including the Silver Beaver and Outstanding Service. He volunteered as a fire fighter and participated in minstrel shows with Rescue Hose Company #1; being honored in 1997 for 50 years of service. He was an active member of many community organizations, such as the Greencastle Sportsman’s Association, Allison-Antrim Museum, Middleburg/Mason-Dixon Line Historical Society, and Antrim Brethren in Christ Church. He was well-known in Greencastle for displaying his WWII memorabilia, Civil War artifacts, and Native American arrowheads and telling stories of his WWII involvement on the home-front by volunteering in the Greencastle aviation observation group and writing letters to service members.

Richard is survived by his companion, Thelma Decker; his sons, Richard Walck and Jeffrey Walck; his grandchildren, Makala Walck and Edwin Walck; and his brother, John Eugene Walck. He is predeceased by his wife, Dorothy M. (“Dottie”) Sedlar (Walck); his brother, Jaye E. Walck; his sister, V. Louise Zeis, and his parents, John Albert Walck and Thelma May Speilman.

Funeral services will be held at the Antrim Brethren in Christ Church at 11:00 AM on 4 December 2021, where Pastor Casey Horst will officiate. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. A reception at the Church will be held after burial, everyone is welcomed to attend. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA.
