Ronald E. Statler, age 89, of Greencastle, PA passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at his home. Born March 29, 1934, in Welsh Run, PA, he was the son of the late Glen G. and Mildred “Nanny” Heckman Statler.
Mr. Statler was a 1952 graduate of James Buchanan High School. He went on to serve honorably in the U.S Navy. Mr. Statler was a dairy farmer all his life. He was a member of the Greencastle Church of the Brethren and formerly a member of the Franklin County Snowmobile Club, Lemaster’s Ruritan Club, and Franklin County 4-H. He enjoyed working, hunting, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, traveling, ice cream socials, and being around people.
Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Sonia L. Crider Statler; three children, Ronald E. Statler II (wife Kimberly) of Greencastle, PA, Stephanie L. Kirkpatrick (husband Timothy) of Shermansdale, PA, and Brian W. Statler of Greencastle, PA; seven grandchildren, Brandon Statler (wife Ashley), Jessica Hudson (husband Travis), Jordan Statler (wife Carly), Tyler Barnhart (wife Shelby), Shelby Galentine (husband Michael), Conner Statler, and Corrine Cutbirth (husband Jacob); seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Geraldine Witter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Miller.
A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 11 AM at the Greencastle Church of the Brethren, 36. S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Pastor Fred Keener will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 6 – 8 PM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc. 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA and one hour prior to the service in the above church and address on Wednesday. Interment will be private.
