Hilda L. (Miller) Eshleman, age 87, a resident of Paramount Senior Living of Fayetteville, PA and formerly of Greencastle died Monday morning November 18, 2019 at the nursing home.
Born January 17, 1932 in Richmond, VA, she was the daughter of the late Earle G. and Esther Bessie (Brindle) Miller. Her husband Ralph M. Eshleman died May 7, 2006.
Hilda was a registered nurse having worked at the Crippled Children’s Hospital and The Masonic Home, both in Elizabethtown, PA, and at the Chambersburg Hospital. Following her retirement from the hospital she worked at the Shook Home in Chambersburg.
Hilda was an active member of the Greencastle Church of the Brethren where she served as the Parish Nurse, taught Sunday School , enjoyed visiting with church members and was President of the Women’s Fellowship of the church. Hilda also was a member of the Greencastle Lioness Club, Greencastle Homemakers and Greencastle-Antrim Women’s Fellowship.
She graduated from the former Quincy High School and Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing.
Surviving family are one daughter Karen M. Blair and husband Stuart of Chambersburg; three sons, Kevin M. Eshleman and wife Mary of Mercersburg, Karl M. Eshleman and wife Holly Ann, Keith M. Eshleman and companion Kathy, all of Greencastle; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; one sister Marilyn Wishard of Greencastle and one brother Earle G. Miller II and wife Phyllis of Greencastle.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Richard B. Miller, a sister Joann Fahrney and two infant sisters, Rachel and Helen Elaine Miller.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday November 21 at 11:00 AM at the Greencastle Church of the Brethren 36 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Jesse Miles and Pastor Leon Yoder officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Quincy, PA. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and also one hour before the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Greencastle Church of the Brethren 36 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA 17225. Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmermanfh.com.
